Clint Boyer has the pole position for Sundays Sylvania 300 at The Newhampshire International Speedway. Clint took the Jack Daniel’s Chevy For a lap around The flat track at 29.206 seconds, and 130.412 MPH. Clint is also in the “Chase For The Nextel Cup”. He clinched a Chase birth at the race in Richmond Virginia By finishing 12th in the Chevy Rock And Roll 400.
The driver of the Jack Daniel’s Chevy is from Emporia Kansas. He has driven everything from motorcycles, Street Stocks, modified’s, and was discovered by Richard Childress while running in the “ARCA REMAX SERIES” at the “Nashville Superspeedway”.
Clint boyer started out driving the number 21 Reese’s Busch car, sharing the driving duties part time with Nextel Cup star Kevin Harvick. He earned one pole, four top five finishes, and seven top tens. Not bad for a rookie huh? In 2006 Clint Boyer was named the driver for the number 07 Jack Daniels Chevrolet at Richard Childress Racing, setting him on the path to four top fives, eleven top tens and a second place finish in the “Raybestos Rookie Of The Year” standings. He is in 12th place heading into “The Chase” and is a good bet that he will give even points leader Jimmy Johnson a run for his money.

Notables that failed to make the field for Sunday’s “Sylvania 300″.
Dale Jarrett in the UPS Toyota, Sam Hornish Junior in the Penske Truck Rental Dodge, Jeremy Mayfield in the 360 OTC Toyota, Micheal Waltrip in the Napa Auto Parts Toyota.(Micheal spun out during his second lap of qualifying) Kevin Lapage in the Front line Motorsports Dodge, and last John Andretti in the Paralyzed Veterans Of America Dodge.
Micheal Waltrip
Micheal Waltrip has had a season plagued with problem starting with the 2007 Daytona 500, Where his Napa Toyota was found to have some sort of performance enhancing “Goo” in the intake manifold. He was forced to start last on the field and was heavily fined and docked points putting him in the negative starting the season. He then found himself unable to qualify on speed for almost half the season keeping him in the negative points realm. The performance of Micheal Waltrip Racing on a whole has not been much better this year. I was not all that against Toyota coming in to Nascar as Most of the cars they sell here in America are made right here in America, So I hate to see this happening to him.
Sam Hornish Junior
Another “Notable” That failed to Qualify was Sam Hornish Junior. Sam is a three time Indy Car Champion and won the “2006 Indianapolis 500″. Sam Hornish Junior drives for Team Penske in the Indy Racing League and this was to be his first attempt at a Nascar Nextel Cup start. He is one heck of a driver in an Indy car with a career 62 top 5′s, 80 top 10′s, and 12 poles in 116 starts in an Indy Car Career that spans eight years so far. One notable thing about the Ohio native that caught my attention is that in his personal vehicles collection he lists a 1977 Kenworth W900-A Semi Truck! Sam Hornish Junior Is now OK in my book. I’m going to see if I can find some pictures of that W900.
Car Of Tomorrow
This is a “Car Of Tomorrow” Race this weekend and the first time this new car has been in a “Chase Format” race. It seems that the teams are having a bit of difficulty getting the brake bias correct on these cars as I saw a lot of cars sliding the left front tire during qualifying yesterday. New Hampshire is a flat track as I have mentioned and with the new cars, braking is very important in getting the car to turn and not slide the nose or lock up the front tires. The new “Car Of Tomorrow” takes away the crew chiefs ability to manipulate the body of the car for performance gains, and returns the actual mechanical setup back into the mix. I love it as it makes them get away from all the engineering back to good old wrench turning.
Sunday’s Race looks to be a good one! Tune in to ESPN on ABC and watch a really great race. Race coverage Starts at 1 P.M. Eastern time on ABC. I’ll be back sunday night with the Race Wrap up and some news on Dale Earnhardt Junior and Kasey Kahne.
Until then stay safe out there.
