Clint Bowyer sat on the pole for the Sylvania 300. He then dominated the race by leading 221 of the 300 laps. The Jack Daniels Chevy was just Hooked up for all but the last 50 laps when the car started to tighten up. This is Clint’s first Nextel Cup win. Clint was heard to say in victory lane “This proves we earned a spot and we’re here for a reason. This is Nextel Baby! I’m not going to kid you, I was about to throw up on those last thirty laps. What was funny, I was starting to feel a vibration but I didn’t know what it was. It was just that you hear every rattle, banging and everybody racing. I was watching ahead hoping and praying that nobody crashed. “

Jeff Gordon finished second followed by two time series champion Tony Stewart in third. The race was a good one with lots of paint being swapped and a few frustrations being vented. Rain washed out practice Saturday so Nascar Threw a “Competition Caution” on lap 36 So the teams could check their tires and adjust the setups on their cars. Clint Bowyer’s Jack Daniels Chevrolet was tight so they took on four tires on lap 37. Lap number 68 Ward Burton spins out and rear ends it into the wall in turn 3, Looked like a flat left front caused his spin.

Dale Junior is scored in the top five around lap 163 after driving his guts out to get up front. shortly after that Dave Blaney spins on lap 165 and backs it into the wall. Lap 169, Reed Sorenson spins and Ken Schrader spins into the grass trying to avoid damage to his race car by the spinning Sorenson.

Lap 180 brings yellow flag number six on the day as Dale Earnhardt Junior Spins the Budweiser Chevy in turn one missing the wall but flat spotting all four tires in the process.Lap number 189 Dave Blaney spins yet again after contact with Regan Smith. This time Blaney Sustains damage to the drivers side of his car. The race settled down into good green flag racing after that, it seemed that the drivers got it all out of their systems, and crew chiefs finally got their cars dialed in for the finish. It was a great race all in all. I’m not all that fired up about flat tracks but NewHamshire has its moments that keep you tuned in. Dover is coming up and that is a track that is traditionally hard on tires and keeps crew chiefs on their toe’s.

In other news Dale Earnhardt Junior is rumored to be releasing the car number and sponsor on Tuesday. Its hard to keep a secret and I hear that the number 88 will be on his car and that the sponsor will be the Pepsi product “Amp Energy Drink”. Look for that press release on Tuesday.

Also Kasey Kahn is rumored to be releasing that Budweiser will be on the hood of his Evernham Dodge for 2008 after a deal was settled to get Dodge to move off the hood and onto another surface of the car, making Budweiser the primary sponsor.

I hope you got a chance to stop somewhere and watch the race. If not I hope that I covered the highlights so you are informed while you are out there on the road. Stay safe out there and look here for news and previews of the coming race at Dover Delaware.
