The Bass Pro Shops team rebuilt his favorite car that had been wrecked last week and Martin Tuex Jr. put it on the pole with a lap time of 27.964 seconds and a speed of 193.105 miles an hour. In a post qualifying interview Martin said ” I’ve got to hand it to all the guys on this team,” Truex said. “They rebuilt this car from last week. It’s my favorite car and it has been for a good part of the season. They made it as good as new.”This car here, for some reason, we haven’t been able to duplicate it. We’ve tried a few times. For some reason, we can’t get a body like this one. I don’t know what it is about this car. I love the feel of it, the way the seat’s in it, just everything about it when I get in it. I’ve got a lot of confidence I can drive really hard in it and it’s fast.”
AFTER LAST WEEKS CRASH
This Bass Pro Shops Team got on the ball after Martin Truex Jr. plowed into the back of Denny Hamlin’s race car last week at The Atlanta Motor Speedway. They got it back to the shop in Mooresville North Carolina and immediately after rolling it,or more precisely, dragging it off the hauler, they tore it apart and put it back together. Usually teams have a fleet of prepared cars at their disposal and can just grab one and set it up for the next track. But this car is special, and with only three races left in the season, its time to put up or shut up and the car needs to be the best in the stable. So if you just wrecked the best car in the stable, do you go with the second best or attempt to rebuild the best? Well after a post race BBQ at Martin Truex’s motor coach in the Atlanta infield (Truex cooking), They decided to head back to Mooresville and rebuild it.

My Thoughts On Texas
The Texas motor speedway is another 1.5 mile track that carries plenty of speed in the turns. there is plenty of room to move around but the high line seems to work best after the cars get dialed in about mid race. Not everyone will be able to stay up there and some drivers will prefer the bottom so there is the potential for some good racing, even three wide for brief periods of time. Although that won’t work for long at Texas as there is not enough room in the corners for that. I look forward to a great race there but I still feel that this date was sort of stolen from another track. I loved the racing at Rockingham North Carolina and I hated to see the racing go away from there. I still to this day think that it was dirty and underhanded for the International Speedway Corporation (its really Nascar) to buy Rockingham and then move the dates to its new track in Texas. I hope the former owners can sleep at night knowing full well what they did to the Rockingham fans. There I that off of my chest.
The television coverage of the Dickies 500 starts at 3 P.M. eastern time on ABC with pre-race coverage starting on the same network an hour earlier. Tune in in your sleeper by hooking up to Idle Air or firing up your dish. You can try to find a truck stop that is going to watch the race in the T.V. lounge but While I was on the road I found that difficult at best. For some reason, truck stops did not care about Nascar. They all thought that we wanted to watch TNT all day long? I had to buy a dish or hook up somewhere. At any rate I hope you can catch the race this Sunday. This is one in three left on the season. Stay safe out there and keep America moving.

Correction: ISC doesn’t own Texas - Bruton Smith (Speedway Motorsports Inc.) owns Texas and bought Rockingham. TMS got it’s first date because Bruton bought half of North Wilkesboro Speedway and used it’s race date. The second date was awarded because of an antitrust lawsuit brought by local investors. The second race date was taken from Rockingham.
Your right, Sorry I got my corporations wrong lol! it was the other way around like you said. they have both done it though. Buy out tracks and move the race dates. it still seems like a dirty and underhanded way to treat the fans though.
Yep, dirty and underhanded in the name of making money. One of The Rock’s dates ended up at Fontana, and they can’t even sell out a race there. So much for making money.
i love the bass team sponsorship
They should put a big bass fish decal on the side of the car
