The Democratically lead Congress, who’s approval rating ranks third behind President Bush and the Ebola virus, has continued on its spirit of “Bridges to Nowhere” and excessive Pork barrel spending. Included in this years $106 billion bill are funds for the Houston, TX Zoo, an Art Museum in Huntsville, AL and a hunting and fishing museum in PA. (See the list of amendments here) Also included is an amendment to end funding for the Cross-border Mexican Truck Program. Both the Senate and House have passed bills that include removing funding for the Mexican pilot program. Currently the House and Senate are working on a compromise Bill to send to the Presidents desk who has vowed to veto it due to the amount of excess spending included in the Bill and for the Mexican truck issue which he supports.
The same politicians that lambasted the President for deficit spending during the last election cycle are now spending even more than what the President ask for. They use the excuse that since we are spending so much in Iraq, that it justifies their excessive spending, the logic of a six year old in my opinion. They also continue to waste the peoples time by sending bill after bill to Bush that they know he will veto instead of getting on with the Nations business. No wonder their approval ratings are in the tank!
As long as the Transportation Bill is in limbo then the much needed repairs and improvements to our highways will not get done. I had hoped the Bridge collapse in MN would be a wake-up call to politicians to drop the games played in DC and get on with the Nations business, but apparently not. The pigs are running wild in DC and the American people are paying the bill. Think about that as you pump that next gallon of $3 fuel and crash through that pot-hole that needs to be filled.
