I don’t know why it’s not all over the internet, but it’s not. It hasn’t shown up on Drudge nor on Google News. Those two places are where I get most of my news.
It seems that a gas well near the interstate blew it’s top. I’d expect that to be all over the media. The media hates the oil and gas industries and loves to embarrass them. I can’t figure why they’re passing up this chance.
At any rate. As of Sunday evening it’s still closed.

Sounds like the well they drilled about 6 or 7 years ago along the 17 mile bridge. Man that is going to be a headache! Looks like U.S. 90 will be the only real route unless you can Justify going on up to I-20. Whew, glad I’m off the road now, I used to go that way every week.
The well is about a mile from the eastern entrance to the span on the right side, visible from the road.
As of last night, 11/25/2007, the interstate had reopened and is expected to stay open until crews can blow the will.
It was a surprise to me to see it open, especially as I was in a major hurry and didn’t want to mess with the detour
I hope it stays open until the middle of next week….I gotta go that way.
