To Illinois voters: We vote on February 5th. Whether or not you are Democrat, Republican, or Independent ask for a Republican ballot and vote in this critical primary election for Mike Psak for U.S. Senate. Also, choose the candidate for U.S. Representative who will support securing our borders, respecting the U.S. Constitution which includes 2nd ammendment rights and is for more responsibility and control at the local level. We need less government from Washington and more responsibilty from the states and the citizens of the United States. Be sure to vote!

Excellent article - we need Mike Psak in the Senate. Whether you live in Illinois or not, we need to support him. We need someone like us who knows what it's like out here to work hard - not another lawyer or career politician.
Truckers (and non-truckers), let's get behind Mike!

Wayne,
What a treat to see your own name in print! Thanks for writing the article. You know, you can grab the widget and post my blog over here as well; it's on my web site under "Blogs/Forums".

I hope that you guys are out there talking on the road. This is perhaps the best shot we're going to have at getting what WE want out of government, instead of government always getting what THEY want out of us.

I know that there are some things that we'll disagree on, but look at what we've got currently: Dick Durbin!

I've been asking for your trust for a long time, and I appreciate what everyone has done up to this point. But, now it's time to shift into a higher gear. We need people out there who will convince other drivers to get on board. We need all of the drivers to call/talk to everyone/anyone in the state of Illinois - friends, family, truckstop waitresses, loading dock workers - and get them out to vote for a guy who is on the side of working people. Call OOIDA and tell them to support this campaign. And, keep the donations coming. I gave up my income to get this job done, so I need your help financially too.

Imagine if every Insterstate highway was a tollway, full of Mexican trucks. And, also realize that you COULD have done something about it. What excuse will we give to the next generation of Americans?

Sincerely,
Mike Psak

hey how bout this guy, i'd vote for him:

1 he's a trucker

2 he cleans up good and looks good in that suit

but to be serious this is what we need in office, more guys that have a background in our industry.
i don't know if any other truckers have held office, but i never have worried about all the issues that face my livelihood before. i don't know my future anymore, i'm 51 now, been truckin since 93 after retiring 20 years in the air force, i don't want to do anything different, i want to "put in a good days work, for a good days pay". remember when those were words you could live by?
well, i miss those days, i've been a owner operator for 12 of those years , i've gone from middle class comfortable, to working class poor, im working harder and longer than ever before, less and less home time, for less money and Peace of mind.
i was raised will the good ol traditional American values, and don't want to change and refuse to compromise my values. but this industry is in a sad state of affairs, we need someone to stand up for us,with a fire in their soul for our plight. is mike the one?
i have lost all faith in all these trucker association's, i truly believe they claim to represent the the o/o's and other truckers, but cator to the freight co. special interest groups ect. i no longer belong to any of them, they've become a part of the bureaucracy!
in the mean time i'll keep running my truck into the ground, haulin America's economy, till i can't run no more, become a grumpy, beat down old man, and wonder why my country has let me down!
oh yea, i'll donate to mike's campaign, soon as i can get my piggy bank full! cheers************

Yeah, I don't agree with everything and some things he wants may be more of a state issue than a US Senate issue.

If nothing else, it's the ultimate "put-up or shut-up". He's definitely trying to change things. And with conservative values like fewer taxes and smaller government at least it's a start.

And yes, I've put my money where my mouth is.

Okay, you've convinced me and I plunked down a donation. After reading everything I could find about Mr. Psak I find that I agree with his position on most of the issues he enumerates but I'm wondering if his platform is missing a few planks. The issues he seems to be most animated about are pretty general in nature and lacking in specific solutions on his part. He seems to take an "I'm for good food" approach to the issues he's adopted. Still, it's nice to see someone with a combination blue collar/white collar background make a run for national office. I could just sit here and say "it'll never work" or I could do my part and make a donation. I chose the latter; it's just money and I guess I can always make more.
