Who will be the next President of The United States?

The primary races are still going with South Carolina being the latest for the Democrats. It looks like Barack Obama has wrapped up The State of South Carolina for the democrats. Hillary Clinton is behind Barack Obama by 15 delegates while John Edwards, a South Carolina Native, could not win his own state’s democratic primary. John Edwards is behind Obama by 41 delegates and is not looking like he will win the Democratic Nomination for President of The United States. Edwards’s former running mate in the last Presidential Election, John Kerry, Backed Barack Obama last month. So now it looks more likely than before that this will be a race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for the democrats.

The Republicans Side

Mitt Romney is in the lead for the Republicans standing on top with 67 delegates. By the way, the primary races are counted by the delegates that the candidates win from each state primary they run in. each state has a certain number of delegates sworn to vote the way the voters in that state voted.

Senator John McCain is behind Romney by 29 delegates with Mike Huckabee in third with 26 delegates putting him 41 behind the leader. It is way too soon to call a victor in either race as there is a long way to go before the two party’s have their conventions and nominate their candidate.

The Magic Numbers

The magic numbers are the total number of delegates that each candidate needs to win their party’s nomination for the office of President. Right now the Democratic leader, Barack Obama, has 63 delegates. He needs that number to get up to 2025! There is a long way to go. The Republican leader, Mitt Romney, has 67 delegates; he needs 1191 to win the nod. I had thought that The former Senator from Tennessee, Fred Thompson, was a good fit for the office of president. It looks like he got in way too late to get any support. For some reason, this time everybody started talking about the presidential election extremely early. I don’t know if it is due to the unpopularity of the current sitting president, the war in Iraq, or both. They really got going early this time though.

The Issues

Don’t get me pegged for either of the two big parties’ because I thought that Fred Thompson would make a great president. I don’t think that our two party system is working for us anymore. They always seem to hate each other and it seems like it is always just one big argument day in and day out. I used to be a Republican, back when conservative values meant something. They may mean something to you now but as for me, I don’t see anyone giving a damn about my life or my part of the American dream. They all seem pre occupied with getting elected then staying in office. Nobody seems like they really care about the common American citizen much past the election.

Abortion is always at the top of the list of issues. I have a great idea! Why don’t we settle that issue once and for all so we can get back to the business of running this great country of ours?

Immigration is another issue at the top of the list. Frankly I am sick and tired of getting the option of “Pressing one for English”! This country was founded on the English language not Spanish! If you move here and legally become a citizen of this country. Learn English! The real immigration problem is far more in depth than my little problem with it. Since “911″ happened there has been much talk about our problems with our open borders. Yet not much has been done to stem the tide of illegal aliens coming into this country. There are millions of illegal aliens in this country right now. They tax the heath and welfare systems of the states they reside in to the point of bankruptcy. They perform a necessary function in this country though, without them we would have to find workers to do the jobs that American laborers don’t want to do. It is a vicious circle though as in, if you paid a good wage to do the sort of labor we are talking about, a quart of strawberries would cost you $20.00 or more. I don’t have the answer for the problem and yet our politicians in this country don’t have it either. Oh they will tell you that they will lasso the moon for you but after they get into office most of those promises go right out the window. As for me? I’m all for closing our borders on all sides and let us get to work fixing the issues within this country before we let any one else in it.

Iraq, The biggest issue of all?

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the ongoing war in Iraq is one of, if not the biggest issue of all. I for one think that it is time for an exit strategy to be formulated. One that is not insane or completely unmanageable. We need great minds to get together and fix this mess. Going to war over there in the first place was a mistake and it was done under false pretenses. Blame whoever you want for it as I don’t care, Just get the problem resolved in a timely manner. As a former Army Infantry Soldier, I saw the problem right away even before they invaded. Number one we told him we was coming, and number two, we had no occupation plan in place, nor an exit strategy. Now we have this mess to clean up. This war in Iraq turned from getting Sadam and his evil sons out of there, to a war against terrorism. We created a place for them to kill us. If it was a war for oil where is my cheap gas prices? Oil just keeps going up and up.

Is The Economy Tanking?

I have always been told and I believe that it is true, that it takes about eight years to feel the economic policies of a president. We have seen a little over seven years of the current president and it seems like the economy is starting to fall into the old porta-john. Oil prices are through the roof, the American dollar is fading in value in the world market, the job market may be showing more new jobs but they don’t tell you that the wages for those new jobs are un-livable.

Oil

A gallon of gas costs almost as much as a gallon of milk now. There is something very wring with that. For years we have all been told that either there wasn’t anymore oil in those wells in the southwest or that it wasn’t worth getting it out of the ground. Go around Mule shoe Texas and look at the oil fields there now. Ten years or more ago the oil tanks there were all rusty and old looking. The wells didn’t pump, and the service personnel who worked on them wore old coveralls and drove old broke down trucks. Go on out there now and look for yourselves. The tanks all have nice shiny new paint jobs or have been replaced with new tanks all together. The service personnel are all driving new trucks and are dressed in new uniforms or have just been replaced with higher paid employees. So has some miracle happened and the oil came back? Or is our own fellow Americans raking us over the coals? There is plenty of oil in Alaska but the environmentalist groups keep pushing the government around about going up to get it. If I understand it correctly, there is more oil at the deepest point of the
Gulf of Mexico than all the oil in the Middle East. Just that it is not so environmentally safe to go get it? This is the twenty first century; you mean to tell me that we have not developed a means to safely get the oil we need? Our own oil? Show me a candidate for the office of president that has an answer to that. I don’t see one running.

Taxes And Same Sex Marriages

No the two topics are not really related, they are merely the last two that I am going to address. Lets look at taxes first shall we? As American citizens we are really taxed to death. I think the average tax that we as Americans see is around seventeen percent. God only asks for ten percent so why does the federal government need close to twenty? Wasteful spending and poor business practices that’s why. In school we teach our children how to run a business so that it is profitable, yet we run our government as if there is no limit to the cash flow. We make deals with foreign countries that make no financial sense and call it a good deal. We are heavily in debt and are getting deeper in debt as time passes. Yet you and I are supposed to pay for all of this? I understand that if I look at it from a worldview, that I am in the richest country in the world, I have a home of my own and have food on the shelves of my cupboard.

I really have nothing to complain about on a world level. I don’t want to look at it from a world level. I don’t like the rest of the world and they pretty well feel the same about me. There was once a time when we sent men and women to Washington to represent us because we trusted them to get the message right. We knew who they were and what they stood for. Now we just hope that they didn’t lie to us to get there. We hope that they took the great business sense that they seemed to have at the time with them. More times than not we find out that they didn’t or that it didn’t really exist. Right now the sitting president is scrambling to get an incentive program in place to prop up his failing economy. If you did that in the corporate world they would call it “Cooking The Books”. It’s a stalling tactic to prop up the economy until it can be passed on to the next president. Then they can try to blame it on him or her as it may be.

The subject of same sex marriage is brewing again but a little more below the surface. If something is not done about this constitutionally it may end up being a issue every time we elect a president. Please understand that this country was founded on Christian Principals and values. We will never accept the marriage of two women or two men. EVER! It is wrong in the eyes of God and it is just morally wrong beyond that. Human nature or better yet Animal nature cannot be changed no matter how much you want it to. Humans will remain heterosexually oriented for the rest of time. It is a design to propagate the species. Two males cannot produce an offspring. That will never change.
There fore all Americans will never accept the idea of marriage between two individuals of the same sex. Stop trying to shove it down my throat in legislation.

Wrapping It Up As Best That I Can

I don’t at this time see a candidate out there running for the Office Of President of The United States that I feel confident in voting for. I no longer trust the two party system in this country and all of the third party candidates are a little to out on the edge of sanity for my liking. I long for the days of old where you sent someone to Washington whom you knew could not be corrupted and would continue to convey the message of the voters who had sent them there. If you can get out there and vote for someone with a clean conscience then by all means do so. The main thing is to get registered if you have not already done so, and get out there and vote no matter whom you vote for. Make your voice be heard. The number of people in this country verses the number that votes is staggering.

My opinion on this elections result before the fact?

I don’t think that this country is ready for a black president. I still see a lot of prejudice in this country by all races. Not enough time has passed by looking at it from the outside in, for this to work. I do however think that this country is ready for a woman president. I just don’t think that it will be Hillary Clinton. She appears bitter and hostile every time that I see her in an official capacity. Her political reputation in my opinion, has been damaged by the association with her Husband, the former president, and all that it may entail. So if the Democrats take either one of them for their candidate, I feel that it’s the Republicans race to lose. I could be wrong but I am usually not in these matters. As for me, I am done with the whole thing. I don’t feel like there is anyone worth voting for out there anymore, as good moral principals don’t seem to exist anymore. A good, solid, decent man probably does not want his reputation tarnished by political office and all that it entails. Therefore you can’t get them to run for an office any higher than city council anymore. So the real race might very well be between Mitt Romney and John McCain. There is a lot of time left so don’t hold me to it. Things tend to change rapidly towards the end at times.

Register to vote and get out there and vote!
