<description>I find the biggest problem with aggressive drivers is their ignorance in regards to Semi Trucks. They have no idea how long it takes for a "Big Truck to stop" and get out of the way of their careless driving tactics.

How many times have you had someone in a hurry pull out in front of you while you were going 60 MPH, only to have to brake and swerve just to avoid hitting them? I bet your answer is, "many".

Jason is correct to say that years ago people had more respect and consideration for truckers, but if you think about it, they had more respect and consideration for EVERYONE. I don't feel it's a direct insult to truck drivers, but rather a general selfish and self centered way of thinking that has sadly become the norm.

<description>You are so right about how to cope with rude and aggressive drivers...in this category I would also include drivers who tailgate ....

My experience and method for people who tailgate my semi-truck and trailer is to gradually slow down....most tailgaters are not interested in going slower to their destination.... When safe to pass --they will ....Also, I make sure when I do slow down there is opportunity for them to go around me....

The other thing I think of as concerns "professional drivers" ...we are to be good example of defensive driving.... looking out for the other guy and helping whenever possible to improve the flow of traffic in and around our larger and often slower vehicles....

I also like the idea of living to drive another day or get home safely...
