Carl Edwards did a great job of reeling in the leaders to win the rain delayed Auto Club 500. After rain washed out the Nationwide race, Nascar tried to get the Auto Club 500 in but rain got it too. When the rain came Nascar and track officials could not make up their minds about track conditions and let fans sit it out. Some were really ticked off! How late did they wait before calling it?

Bio-diesel is probably NOT the right word, since it has nothing to do with anything “Bio”.

There’s this little outfit in New Mexico called Los Alamos National Laboratory. You may have heard of them? They KNOW energy. They’ve done “stuff” in regards to energy…..lots and lots of stuff.
They’ve come up with what they call “Green Freedom”. Believe it or not the idea is to make fuel from air.

Riiiiiight!

Actually it’s for real. Conceptually it’s no big deal. Motor Fuel, be it gasoline, alcohol or diesel is basically long carbon chains intertwingled with hydrogen. Usually this combination of carbon chains and hydrogen ,(and other less desirable stuff), is “mined” in the form of crude oil and then refined into various types of petroleum products including gasoline and diesel.

Buske Lines and S.C. Johnson employees have been caught in the type of scam I have only heard rumors of. Here the link to the news story.

Every large company I’ve worked for always has strange deals that you only hear rumors of. I’ve heard of trucking companies taking contracts at a loss just to get the contract. It makes no sense, until you learn about a large company doing back room deals with employees at another large company. I suspect many are involved with this type of business, Buske just was caught.

Where did Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch come from? All everybody was talking about before the race was how this was going to be a battle between the Toyota’s of Gibbs Racing and the dominating force of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports. Then from out of nowhere comes the Dodge boys. Did the Penske teams set up for the race under the lights?

After months of hype smear campaigns by the plaintiffs, the lawsuit against FMCSA over the cross border program was heard by a three Judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco on Tuesday, February 12.

Some of the issues raised, included the parties “standing” in the action, the legality of continuing the program in view of the flawed amendment inserted into the Omnibus spending bill signed by President Bush in December and the statistical validity of the results with so few participants.

Out of the gate, the attorney representing Teamsters, Public Citizen and Sierra Club was asked by one of the Jurists, why and for what reason was Sierra Club a party to this action for which he become slightly combative with the Judge and had no good explanation for their presence. It was suggested they were merely a party to share in attorney fees should the plaintiff’s prevail.

You might want to get used to seeing these two cars in victory lane. At least as a Junior fan I hope so. I wonder if Teresa Earhardt is thinking about the thoroughbred that she just let out of her barn? First he wins the Bud Shootout, then goes on to win the Daytona 500 qualifying race that he is entered in. He didn’t just win those two races, he won them in grand fashion by staying up front the whole time, either in the lead, or vying for the lead. Is the old Junior back?

Do I need to say that I’m for legal immigration, even for truck drivers if there is a legitimate need? Even while the economy was a lot better and there was a lot of freight being moved around, I’ve never seen any evidence of a real driver shortage. There were reports of the driver market being “tight”, but that makes us a valuable commodity and there’s nothing wrong with that.

When a company can brag that they pay their owner operators $1.00 a mile and think they’re doing a good thing, there’s no driver shortage.

This story is about illegal immigration and what truck companies are doing to hire illegal immigrants. The story is from August, but it’s in the headlines again because this State Representative started serving his 15 month federal time. Here’s why -

I could not believe it was happening as I watched Dale Earnhardt Junior roll across the start finish line at the Daytona Bud Shootout! I was screaming “hell Yea!” and promptly woke up my wife who had gone to bed an hour earlier. The wins drought is over and Welcome to Hendrick Motorsports!

Dale Earnhardt Juniors last win was at the Crown Royal 400 at the Richmond International Raceway on May 6^th 2006. That is a long time to go without a win and it is one of many reasons that Dale Junior left Earnhardt Incorporated.

Can you fall in love with a truck? For years as my over the road career was winding down, I didn’t think so. They all seemed pretty much the same to me. Well not any more! I love this new Lonestar from International! The styling is fantastic and makes me want to go back out on the open road. When my wife heard me say that she got mad as all heck! ( I gave up the open road last August) The specs on this truck show that the fine folks over at International left nothing out on this one.
