Buske Lines and S.C. Johnson employees have been caught in the type of scam I have only heard rumors of. Here the link to the news story.
Every large company I’ve worked for always has strange deals that you only hear rumors of. I’ve heard of trucking companies taking contracts at a loss just to get the contract. It makes no sense, until you learn about a large company doing back room deals with employees at another large company. I suspect many are involved with this type of business, Buske just was caught.
4.1 million is the claim by S.C Johnson for their losses from Buske’s actions alone! I thought that was huge, but Buske claims he had to do it to compete and that 4.1 million is a standard commission paid for getting a similar contract. It’s no wonder the trucking companies short their employees when they pay this type of money to get a contract. From my point of view, it seems unreal that a commission that large is paid just to sell a service, but to these guys, it’s no big deal.
There were about a dozen people involved in a $100 million dollar scam. If normal guys scammed $1,000 they would go to jail and be put through the legal system. The rich guys just pay penalties and lawyers. Shows me where the justice system is. Imagine how many people were effected with a loss that high.
Buske claims he had to do it to stay in business. I don’t understand why he could not show S.C. Johnson what was going on and keep the account. It seems they would have appreciated his honesty and gave him priority for saving them from the losses.
If other scams like this are going on, and I’m would bet good money that there are a few, I hope a case like this gets shippers to start investigating. It could open the door for honest carriers. At the very least, it could get the scam artists to start shutting down these deals and get honest.

how long is it going to take before America’s economy comes to a grinding halt because of company’s like buske.
how many more of the big shot outfits are out their doing dirty deeds, i would expect all of them.
i would like to know how the bso’s can continue you to hire unqualified drivers, pay for all the law suits caused by these unquals. haul freight for cut throat rates, pay for increased insurance, operating costs and the like, i think its as clear as the pimples on their fat azzes, they can’t, but they can just bailout when the profits go negative. watch what buske does over this deal..
the independents have no way out, like myself I’ll hold out till i go broke, can’t pay my bills, lose what ever i have left after years of sacrifice, and join the growing numbers of the homeless in America, when your in your fifty’s is difficult to find decent paying work, but i won’t be alone, all of us will be there, gathered around the burn barrel, regretting we didn’t gather our might in numbers before it was to late……..
