America uses a lot of energy. A LOT.
Some folks seem to think this is a bad thing. I don’t agree. Like fun, money and sex you can’t have too much energy. Years ago…in the first energy crisis…some folks figured out that things needed to be DONE. Unfortunately nothing much was done. Consequently now we have ANOTHER energy crisis. Something still needs to be done. Increasingly restrictive EPA regulations which decrease fuel economy probably isn’t one of them.
The following table is from a Blog I follow….NEXT BIG FUTURE

I find it interesting that automobiles use 3.19 times as much fuel as trucks do. (%40.7 vs %12.7 of the total. Notice that the total fuel used for passenger movement FAR exceeds that used to haul freight?
Trucks, trains, boats and planes are much more efficient at hauling freight than automobiles(and trains) are at moving people it looks like.
What to make of it? Dunno. It makes me wonder about the reality behind the anti-idleing laws for one thing.
Food for thought.

While it may be true that “Like fun, money and sex you can’t have too much energy,” it doesn’t necessarily follow that using a lot of energy is a not bad thing. Having a lot and using a lot are quite different. To use your own analogy, if I used a lot of money, and didn’t have a lot, or a way to make a lot of money, I would be in debt very quickly. While that may be fine for our president/government, for most of us that’s a bad thing.
Was this intended as a late April Fools ’ Day post?
Actually….no.
I’m dead serious. Not intended to be April Foolish in any way. Energy equates to wealth. With lots of energy anything else is possible…with the right technology.
