I’m not big into petitions and all of that, but a lot of our discussions and comments lately have centered around oil and the fact that we need to drill in our own backyard. Newt Gingrich has started a website, a petition and a drive to get our own oil on our own land, before someone else does…
China and India are building oil drilling platforms 50 miles off the coast of Florida. These platforms are Slant Drilling platforms. They will be able to reach the oil that is under Cuba and the oil that is in our territory as well. I believe US oil companies would take better care of the environment and can be held responsible for any spills or accidents better than some foreign country that is thousands of miles away from their own homeland or maybe it’s just me. What if a China or an India platform has an accident? Who is going to clean up a spill 50 miles from Florida? China and India? Guess again.
On a side note, the same Slant Drilling technology was going to be used in ANWR so they could reach more than just the footprint of the platform. They would have access to the oil under the entire ANWR without disturbing any more envirnonent then they had to. The small area where the oil companies in ANWR is a postage stamp compared to the rest of just the ANWR reserve. That same area is 700 miles from a tree. It’s barren artic landscape. Not the plush Alaskan forest the environmentalists lead everyone to believe.

Thank dhimicrats for the high price of fuel.
Uhm. Check your facts before advocating empty solutions to real problems.
Don’t you just love these guys that say check your facts, but don’t back up what they say? And offer no solutions, only say you’re wrong. Just like the normal liberal way to argue. They don’t have a solution, but everyone else is wrong.
BTW – Technology and conservation? Not a solution for today. It’s not even a solution 20 years from now. At least someone has a plan for now. And if the liberal courts would shut the environmentalists down, it wouldn’t take 10 years to produce from new wells.
America’s infrastructure is based on oil. All the trucks, planes, trains, ships, that deliver all goods to market run on oil. All automobiles, as well as all the gas stations across America run on oil. All petroleum based products, run on oil. Although alternative fuels most definitely should be developed, in the mean time America must have oil to keep our economy from screeching to a halt. In addition, our national security requires energy independence ASAP, so that we are not transferring all our wealth to foreign countries who do not like us, and who can cripple us by turning off the spigot, disrupting oil transport to us, or arbitrary oil price hikes. These are all reasons why we must be drilling for more oil right now and right here in the U.S.A. … ASAP. Nancy Pelosi and her cronies stubborn commitment to petty party politics, instead of realistic concern over our national interest, even in the face of 76% of Americans who want off shore drilling now, will end up in bringing America to its knees.
Nothing more to say to that, other than you’re absolutely right.
