Trucking has been a big topic in the news lately, and it hasn’t all been positive. So International Truck has decided to do something about it. Last year they started interviewing truckers on video at Walcott, truck shows and truck stops about why they drive. Now they’re making a documentary (premiering late summer/early fall) to tell the real story of owner-operators.
Meet the Truckers
Introducing Steven Donaldson, a 58-year-old father of three and trucker for life. He owns lots of toys—a Harley, several Quads, even a helicopter. He also owns his own fleet of work trucks, from severe duty vehicles to long haul. Though he’s almost 60, he’s a modern owner-operator who communicates on the open road by cell phone instead of a CB.
Tim Young is a family man with Southern charm and the lean, long-legged gait of a Clint Eastwood. He wears cowboy boots and a hat, and carries himself as if he were born in a saddle. A native Alabaman, he currently pulls a tanker during the week and comes home to his three kids and wife of 20 years, Tisha, every weekend. He is a proud trucker who works hard to put food on the family table.
28-year-old Chris Lecount lives in Goshen, Indiana, with his wife and parents on his family’s homestead. He is a big man with a heart of gold, and a positive outlook on life. At the tender age of 20, he married a woman almost twice his age, she had kids from a previous marriage and now Steven happily supports his adopted brood, as well as his own grandparents. Chris’s favorite pastime outside of driving is to sing karaoke with his trucker buddies.
