Regarding who to blame about the high cost of fuel.
And what to do about it come November.
There is a LOT of comment regarding the high cost of fuel on the internet. Some of you might have missed it so here are a few links of interest…
As reported on Power Line

This was put together by the House Republican Whip’s office.
Comments on this proposal by Big Lizards.
The Republicans have a plan, the democrats have a wish.
Or here…
As usual when someone starts to DO something about the problem, well, you can’t DO that.
No Wonder we’re in such a mess.

I gotta agree with most of the Republican plan-maybe we should call it the “American” plan?. . .because we’re all hurting. However, I do think it’s necessary to close the “Enron Loophole” regarding speculators. Its my understanding that the big mortgage banks are the ones doing much of the speculating-trying to prop up their bottom line after their heavy losses in the mortgage mess. And I have no trouble believing politicians on both sides of the aisle would see that as a way to help out their banker buddies without actually being blamed for it. We dont want them to “investigate” it-we want them to close it!
As for Dem ideas on how to solve the problem, just look at what ‘progressive’ plans are underway here in Michigan: Jenny Granholm rides her bike to work in Lansing. Ann Arbor is now taking property for bike paths thru eminent domain-the latest one goes toward US 12-and to the recycling center?? The state has a plan to “connect the downtown area of every city and village with bike paths’ and we are solving the childhood obesity problem with the “Safe Routes To School” plan-which includes building walking trails and bike paths! This is actually a federal plan-with some funding coming from the feds, more coming from the states-and the vast majority of all of it coming out of the Transportation budget! And who do we find hanging out on these trails and bike paths? Child molesters and muggers!
Last week’s NASCAR race here at Brooklyn had terrible attendance, down about 35,000 paid admissions although they havent let out any official figures I can find. Well, when you add Michigan’s huge unemployment-especially in this area, to one of the highest gas taxes in the nation, it isnt hard to figure out. Since the state is desperate for the dollars, why no more support for a sport that generates $400 million dollars in the economy here yearly-beats out the Super Bowl by a mile? Maybe its appropriate that Dale Jr coasted across the finish line out of gas! And our “plan” to revitalize the Michigan economy is going to be thru tourism-we dont want any manufacturing here. . .might mess up the environment they’re all busy trying to “save” from we home-owners! So, how do we attract these tourists? Build bike paths, keep gas prices and sales taxes high and spend the transportation budget on walking trails? This state-and apparently, the entire country, is being run by Dumb and Dumber!
In the interest of a truly informed electorate, Ross Perot is back withg his charts-this time on-line. This new website has all kinds of charts that uncover a bunch of the shortcomings of our economy. . .the one on the education system is especially telling when you compare it to the portion of the budget it takes. Now we know where they got so dumb! http://perotcharts.com/
