Joe the Plumber

Could have been Joe the Trucker. Look what Joe Public gets for asking an honest question? Who wants to be involved in this crap. One of the Republican debates that was setup as a town hall was filled with Democratic operatives, but this is just one guy, playing football with his son and the messiah Obama comes through his neighborhood.
On a side note – I’m driving out of Miami and the interstate southbound is closed down tight. Obama is in the neighborhood. I guess he doesn’t want to be on the same interstate as the common folk. When the other VP nominee pulls the bus into Wal-mart to get diapers, who really understands what real people need? Taking a train to work makes you in touch with the common man? Make that Amtrak first class over $250 each way. I wonder if he takes the DC Metro (subway) from the train station to the Capitol? Probably not. Even if you are rich and famous and almost President have a little humility, at least in public.
The media has come out and said some horrible things about Joe Wurzelbacher for asking a question. A simple question that Obama tripped and spoke his mind instead of a talking point. And he didn’t even get the talking point right. I thought Democrats were supposed to be compassionate and fighting for the working man? Maybe it’s the working man that wants to do better they don’t like.
He’s explained not having a license (he doesn’t need one because he works for a master plumber) and he owes money to a hospital. Anyone who has ever been in a hospital, even with insurance probably still owes the hospital and doctors some money. And so what? That doesn’t make his question any less valid. Does Obama’s answer make sense to anyone? Even after listening a couple of times, I still didn’t understand the answer. Except for the part that everyone heard: “Spread the Wealth.”
Obama and Biden never heard of a plumber making $250k? Have they hired a plumber lately? If you have someone that owns a plumbing business with a few employees $250k is very easy to get to. Now is that gross, adjusted gross, net or what? My guess would be adjusted gross, since that’s what most tax returns are based on. But still, that’s not impossible for a small business and most small businesses file on their personal 1040 instead of a corporation or LLC.
How many trucks does it take to get to $250k gross? Not many, two or three. Own two busy trucks and you’re probably grossing over the magic $250k. Most mega-trucking companies today, started with one guy and one truck. If I was undecided by this time, the arrogance, elitism and condescending attitude of Obama and Biden would push me away.
And so what if the guy doesn’t make 250k yet? The point is that someday he wants to and he might. And he doesn’t want Obama coming in and spreading his wealth. Maybe he should be allowed to spread his own wealth by hiring people and giving to charity instead of the government. What would be the point of striving to do better if the government is only going to take more of it when you hit that magic number and give it to people less fortunate than you. That’s a great idea, but until the government can prove they’re not going to waste it on themselves and stupid projects, I’d rather be the one helping the less fortunate.
Good for Joe for putting up with all the crap. And if you are truly undecided after 300 debates, 24/7 news coverage, front page on every newspaper in the country and terabytes of information on the internet, do us all a favor and don’t vote at all.

“Terabytes” of information? I was doing ok until I came to this – it’s not a $5, $10 or $15 word – no, this is clearly a $25 word! A Republican word no doubt. This was clearly unfair of you. I had to open another “window” and Google the word. That took me to Wikipedia. That told me that a terabyte is – actually it says that – the VALUE of a terabyte is based upon a decimal radix – base 10 – and is defined as one trillion – short scale – bytes or 10,000 gigabytes. A terabyte contains 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. My head hurts just thinking about this. And I have you to blame. Would “Joe” the plumber use such a word. The answer is no. Neither would “Joe” the trucker. I don’t think Sen. McCain or Gov. Pain would know what a “terabyte” is. I know Sen. Biden would have no idea. And Sen. Obama? I don’t know. I looked it up and I still can’t get my hands around it. I do know it has something to do with a lot of something. Did you know YouTube holds over 600 terabytes of user-submitted videos. The Library of Congress has 70 terabytes of data. Really a lot of stuff. T-e-r-a-b-y-t-e-s. I still think its some kind of dinosaur. A really big one!

I know a lot of guys who do that or much, much, better.

Okay, two busy solo freight trucks or one busy team truck. Depends on the kind of freight too. Household can gross that in their sleep. I was trying to be conservative. Without going into all the details we’re going into now. But if you’re not grossing that at two or three, something’s wrong.
