Now I promised Wayne, our fearless leader, that I would be nice boy. “No cursing, nothing personal, etc.”, he said. And I’m trying. Oh, am I trying. But he didn’t say not to have fun. And after all, with all that is going on in our live’s right now, we certainly need some fun and laughs. Right? Of course, I’m right.

So do we all know what October 31st is? No, not just the end of the month. No, not just the 304th day of the year – 305th in Leap Years. No, not Super-girl’s birthday. Think hard. Reach for your “inner” child. Yes! It’s Halloween! aka as All Hallows Eve, All Saint’s Eve, Hallowed End and Samhain in Gallic. Trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costumes, Jack ‘O Lanterns and horror movies.

Now if I ran a “travel center” I would make sure October 31 would be celebrated right. But, then pinheads run them, so any fun is pretty much out. And you’re certainly not going to see the DOT folks do anything special that day. No, you won’t hear one “boo” from any of them. And, the company you work for? Forget it, they’re just trying to keep their heads above water.

So, it’s all up to “us” drivers. You can have fun right in your truck. Ride with your wife, girlfriend or significant other?  Halloween is on Friday night. You can sleep all day Saturday. Buy some costumes, carve a pumpkin, put a horror movie in the DVD and eat some orange cupcakes. Decorate your cab with scary things. It doesn’t count that it’s probably already scary. Your girlfriend can dress up as a sexy Flying J waitress and you be the bad customer. “Coffee, tea or me?”  I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination.
