We want you to know – ENOUGH ALREADY! Get to the point. This is serious. OK, sorry.
This creep pictured to your left is James Edward Hodges. According to Knoxnews.com: “Hodges had a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1992 for burglary, numerous thefts, driving under the influence, drug charges, aggravated assault, numerous failures to appear, unlawful possession of a weapon, driving while privilege revoked, criminal trespassing, violation of probation and possession of burglary tools.”
Allegedly, at 2:30am, last night, at a warehouse lot, Hodges tried to enter into the cab of a parked tractor trailer. A 68-year old driver was sleeping inside the bunk. His first attempt failed. He returned and used a rock to break a window. The driver woke up and shot and killed him. The driver was taken to the hospital with chest pains. The District Attorney has not as of yet filed any charges against the driver.

As an OTR truck driver, I park much less frequently at shippers and receivers, opting to stay at a nearby truck stop or rest area with security. I do not carry a gun in my truck. I hate when someone knocks on my door – I get very nervous and find it very hard to get back to sleep. I feel for this driver and pray that he is OK and no charges are filed against him.

Robert Heinlein, a famous, american philosopher, once commented:
“Never pick a fight with an Old Man….he’ll just kill you”
Robert was right again. I’m not 68 yet…but I’m getting fairly close.
…….and I’m SERIOUSLY considering getting a gun.
Personally, and Constitutionally I believe we all have the right to bear arms. I believe the need to defend ones person from criminals should outweigh any “legal” argument for the disarmament of the citizenry. This truck driver acted in self-defense and no charges were filed against him.
The unfortunante reality is that so many people believe the ridiculous diatribe offered by the media. The grim reality is that guns kill far fewer people than cars, cigarettes, cancer, knives, medical malpractice, etc. Guns are just singled out because they pose a threat to the unlawful actions of the government.
I totally agree with our right to bear arms and it surprises me that no charges were filed against the driver, since, at least I have been led to believe, it is illegal to carry a weapon in a commercial vehicle. I would most certainly love to be wrong about this.
