As reported earlier, Santa had been en route to MATS in Louisville. We do know that he arrived, picked up his new fire engine red truck, but has not been heard from since. He had been invited to lunch by International officials, along with other new buyers. He did not show up for that lunch. Mrs. Claus, who knew all along that he was not going fishing, is very worried.

Life on the Road has learned that after Santa returned from delivering toys to all the good girls and boys ’round the world on Christmas, he registered with the Ashley Madison Agency. That’s the dating service that claims to guarantee its members “an affair to remember.” They say in their advertisement: “Life is short, have an affair.”

We had thought that he might be headed to Wayne Weisser’s home in Las Vegas. But Weisser is on the road somewhere and is really down in the dumps about turning 50. The last thing he needs is to entertain Santa, who recently turned 300. And Santa loves Barbershop Quartet, and well, Wayne is more the Metallica type.

Anyway, one of our “sources” in Panama City FL has faxed us a very disturbing photo. We would prefer that Mrs. Claus not know about this. The photo above is the happy couple in “better times.” But the other photo is our Santa with his Ashley Madison “date.”

This kind of thing happens in the trucking world all the time. Most of the truckers I meet have been divorced. Many had been married more than once. Some, like sailors, have girlfriends in more than one city. These women might have children.

Life on the road is tough. Tough on a drivers health – tough on relationships. Santa had been on the road for only one night a year the past few hundred years, but it seems to have taken its toll. We hope that he takes his new truck , comes to his senses and heads home soon to Mrs.Claus. And the same goes for all those drivers who need to get home and take care of business.
