Or as some have called it The Fajita Flu
I urge calm. The news media has been right twenty seven times out of the last two disasters. The main sewer media has touted innumerable disasters, that weren’t. SARS, the soon-to-be global cooling disaster (in the seventies), the soon-to-be- global warming disaster(in the nineties, In other words the business of the news media, as they practice it, is to spread panic, hate, discontent and unease, while at the same time claiming otherwise.
However, like Chicken little, if one screams panic often enough one is bound to be right eventually. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.
An examination of headlines as related to the content of the articles themselves will reveal that most times headlines are alarmist. That’s the purpose of a headline, to get a reader’s attention so that the article gets read. Unfortunately sometimes it seems that the headline writer didn’t bother to read the article.
And numbers. Discount anything a Journalist says regarding numbers. If a journalist could do the numbers they wouldn’t BE a journalist…they’d find a real job.
Double, triple or multiply by ten when referring to Television.

Up Date.
The main sewer media isn’t the only potential source of panic….beware of Twitter as well.
Up Date II.
It appears that quite a few people die every year from the flu anyway. I hadn’t realized that the numbers were so large. 40, 000 in the US on average….per year. And that’s an average year with no “pandemic”. Google is your friend.
Apparently, Google isnt your friend on this issue either, Everett. Some researchers who attempted to research the CDC numbers a couple of years ago found out the mass numbers didnt match the individual reported numbers-turns out the CDC reported as a flu death every person who died while having the flu. . died from terminal cancer? Not if you had -or were suspected to have-the flu. In some states, anybody who died of pneumonia was determined to be a flu death during flu ‘season’. .and that’s the common cause of actual death of many elderly and invalid. Actually true deaths from the flu itself were something like 286 for the year. Today, I see Mexico is saying they are counting deaths from flu-related pneumonia. Who knows what they’re counting-especially if they stand to gain a whole bunch of aid money for it?
I doubt if we have much to worry about-except I always worry when we get inundated with some kind of impending disaster. When the govt says, “Look over there!!!”, dont look where they’re pointing-look what they’re doing they dont want you to notice.
I don’t agree or disagree with what you’re saying. I do take exception with your use of “journalist” and the alleged “fudging” of numbers. That’s more what a “reporter” would do, whereas a “journalist” would pass along the facts based on what their research or an interview would uncover. The media as we have it today is filled with way too many “entertainment” reporters and multi-millionaire commentators. Would Walter Cronkite have used the first ten minutes of his new broadcast to criticize what ABC or NBC were doing? Ever listen to Bill O’Reilly? After Obama’s new conference I did what every American should do – I turned off the radio and drew my own conclusions. And then washed my hands with soap and water.
