Right.
Bankruptcies are rampart. People are looseing everything that they’ve worked lifetimes to accumulate.
I’m sitting “in the yard” at “the company that I’m leased to”. There are a LOT of other trucks sitting here also. Waiting for loads. Some have been here for many days. At surrounding truckstops there are a great deal more.
Sitting. Waiting.
“Things will get better”. they say. “They have to”.
At which point I ask, “What makes you say that? Any evidence or merely wishing”.
At which point “they” admit that they’re merely wishing.
No, it doesn’t HAVE to. It’s not. Santa Clause is a broke and the Tooth Fairy is retired.
There is NO evidence that things are getting better. There is a LOT of evidence that things are going south. California’s tax-and-spend problems, for example. As mentioned earlier the bankruptcy phenomenon. (Actually there were more of them last year than any year in history and this year promises to triple that number.) The administrations outrageous, wild spending spree. (eventually the money will need to be paid back).
The US is about to loose it’s AAA status for debt instruments.
The US government. About to be downgraded, no doubt eventually, to junk bond status.
No. It doesn’t HAVE to get better.
It can, actually, get a LOT worse. Look at Zimbabwe for example. Not so many years ago it was a prosperous country. No longer.
If the country continues to do what it was doing to get into this mess It can get a WHOLE LOT worse.
Einstein said something to the effect that insanity is defined as doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.

Your right. I don’t know about Zimbabwe. Never been there. But for the US, holy smokes. I’m now seeing deserted malls. The most prevalent sign in every town I drive through now is “AVAILABLE.” I picked up at a factory the other day that is shutting down in 90 days – the property already has a FOR SALE out in front. The workers – the ones that are left comprising the skeleton crew – are going through the motions.
