I received an email today. Since I’m one of the “select few” that received this special invitation, I thought I’d pass it on to you.
Every day I receive inquiries from struggling trucking and transportation industry owners and executives asking for my advice on how to boost their incomes and increase their business. Folks pay me a lot of money to get my advice. In fact, I’ve been advising trucking execs for years.
Okay, so I clicked through, I was curious to see how much this great advice was going to cost me. After a really good sales page, I clicked through again, then after another page I had to click through again and give up my name and information before I found out how much it was. How much was it? A dollar shy of four digits. But look at all the free stuff that was included and you’ll be told the secrets that every successful trucking exec knows how to make it in trucking.
If you’re still trucking you’ll probably make it through this. Like others have mentioned, most of the riff-raff is gone, the herd has been thinned, it’s a waiting game now. If you still have a fleet or any resemblance of a trucking company by this time, you don’t need someone else telling you what you either already know or can’t do anything about.
Back to the email:
I’ve called on the best and the brightest in the business and they’ve agreed to share their exclusive money-making knowledge with YOU.
That doesn’t sound like a scam at all, it sounds like a legitimate offer to help me out. Want to know the secrets of successful trucking companies? Get paying customers and cut expenses. I’ll put my Paypal link below the post. If you get an email like this one look up this guy on Google and you’ll see he’s a marketer. His twitter is full of marketing crap, not trucking and not even marketing crap about trucking. Granted a lot of marketing has to go into getting customers. Like most marketing types, this seems like it’s all hype and little substance.
Preying on the people’s dreams (yeah, he mentions dreams in his email and sales page) and desperation is lower than low. It’s no better than the “work at home” and “flip real estate” secrets being handed out on late night TV. I’m sure it’s really good marketing copy and the conference, seminar or whatever will have some good information. I’m not the exactly the demographic these people are really looking for, but if I had a small to medium sized company, before sending myself or one of my salespeople, I think I would look into it a little more. It’s “too slick” and raises a few questions, I’m just saying… Be careful with your money out there.
