This happened last week and all of the trucking magazines have the info. We may not break the news, but I do try and find the interesting parts about the news. This video has more explosions than any other video as they blast some of the rock on the hill.
Latest estimates I’ve seen has at least 2 lanes open in February 2010. Detour going east from I-40 to I-81 North, then I-26 South back to I-40 East. Going west I-26 North from Asheville, NC, I-81 South, back to I-40 West. It will be 50 miles out of route, but probably almost as fast because you won’t have all of the twisting turns, reduced speed limit and lane restrictions.
