articleLarge Attention truck drivers – stop your whining about Obama and his evil socialist indecisive spend spend and tax liberal agenda -  tell him PERSONALLY! Don’t get frustrated believing incorrectly that you, the American trucker, doesn’t have a voice in Washington. You do. In fact, now you can have the ear of the man himself – the big cahoona – the man behind the seal – the leader of the free world. All you need is a smile, a suit and tie and a babe at your side to press the flesh with the Prez.

Because, drivers, despite we Americans fighting two wars and the global war on terror, our country constantly on edge wondering what the Taliban and Al-Quaeda will do next and weirdos, nuts and crazies threatening harm to our President, our not so Secret Service has screwed the pooch. From The New York Times: “Michaele and Tareq Salahi of Virginia, after SNEAKING INTO a State Dinner for the Prime Minister of India, met and shook hands with the president and the first lady in the receiving line in the Blue Room, as the Obamas greeted each of their 400 invited guests Tuesday night before moving to a tent on the South Lawn for dinner.” Could I be the only one that find it interesting that the number of dinner guests – 400 – equals the percentage increase – 400 – of threats against the President since he took office?

The New York Times adds: “That disclosure coincided with a statement from the director of the Secret Service, Mark Sullivan, saying that his agency was “deeply concerned and embarrassed” by the events. Secret Service officials said the agency wanted to interview everyone connected with the episode, including the Salahis, and had not ruled out criminal charges. “The preliminary findings of our internal investigation have determined established protocols were not followed at an initial checkpoint, verifying that two individuals were on the guest list,” Mr. Sullivan said.  “Although these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of screening, they should have been prohibited from entering the event entirely,” Mr. Sullivan said. “That failing is ours.”

As a trucker that encounters security constantly at military installations, Fortune 500 shippers and receivers and truck stops all throughout the US and Canada, my feeling is this – it is all nonsense – a joke. As a somewhat intelligent citizen I just cannot take it seriously. Security takes themselves seriously, but civilians don’t. The holes in what these folks establish to “guard” or whatever it is they’re doing to “control” entry or exit into a place are for lack of a better description – wide. In fact, extremely “available” for anyone who wishes to do something bad to do so. They – rent-a-cops – suffer from taking themselves so seriously that they are ignorant as to their stupidity. And so it seems, our Secret Service – supposedly the best of the best – suffers from that exact same thing. If what happened was not supposed to happen for some reason – I’ve seen too many movies perhaps – and it was perhaps a “test” – then heads need to roll. The memories of JFK in an open limo, former Pres. Reagan being shot in an “unsecure” street and others are all to vivid. “Holes” like this simply cannot be tolerated.
