Talladega! What More Is There To Say?

dega

Kyle Busch wins at Talladega! Man what a race! I love this track more than any other track on the circuit and not just because it is only an hour and a half from my house. If you have never been to The Talladega Super Speedway, you are missing one heck of a race. It may get boring at times but to tell you the truth, I only get bored with it when I am watching it on Television. There is no way you can get bored with it while in the grandstands.

Did I Jinx It! Carl Edwards Again?

Man I think I am a Jinx. I get this feeling in my last post that this could be Dale Earnhardt Juniors time to win and he comes in 12th, one lap down! Man what a bummer! But hey who can argue with the dominance of the #99 team? Is Carl Edwards on fire or what? Some people may still think that they are cheating, as for me, well you have to prove it to me first. I can’t remember who interviewed him in victory lane Sunday on T.V. but they looked in the car and said “Yup the Oil Reservoir cover is on”. From the look on Carl’s face that really didn’t go over very well.

Dale Earnhardt Junior Takes The Texas Pole!

Check out this lap that Junior layed down during qualifying Friday! He beat Cousin Carl by more than two tenths. This will give Hendrick Motorsports its first pole of the 2008 season. You could hear the crowd erupt with screams of joy as the lap times went up on the board and the number 88 went to the top of the pole!

Toyota Gets Its First Win!

No glitz and flash to my post this week as I am working with a work related injury to an arm so today it just the heart of the matter. There is lots to talk about though and I will try to hit the high points. I am fired up about the Nascar news of late yet I am in a good deal of pain. I can’t let this go though so lets talk about the issues at hand shall we?

Carl Edwards Wins At Fontana

c

Carl Edwards did a great job of reeling in the leaders to win the rain delayed Auto Club 500. After rain washed out the Nationwide race, Nascar tried to get the Auto Club 500 in but rain got it too. When the rain came Nascar and track officials could not make up their minds about track conditions and let fans sit it out. Some were really ticked off! How late did they wait before calling it?

Ryan Newman Wins The Daytona 500!

newman
Where did Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch come from? All everybody was talking about before the race was how this was going to be a battle between the Toyota’s of Gibbs Racing and the dominating force of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports. Then from out of nowhere comes the Dodge boys. Did the Penske teams set up for the race under the lights?

You might want to get used to seeing these two cars in victory lane. At least as a Junior fan I hope so. I wonder if Teresa Earhardt is thinking about the thoroughbred that she just let out of her barn? First he wins the Bud Shootout, then goes on to win the Daytona 500 qualifying race that he is entered in. He didn’t just win those two races, he won them in grand fashion by staying up front the whole time, either in the lead, or vying for the lead. Is the old Junior back?

Dale Earnhardt Junior Wins The Bud Shootout!

I could not believe it was happening as I watched Dale Earnhardt Junior roll across the start finish line at the Daytona Bud Shootout! I was screaming “hell Yea!” and promptly woke up my wife who had gone to bed an hour earlier. The wins drought is over and Welcome to Hendrick Motorsports!

The Losing Streak Is Over, Welcome To Hendrick

Dale Earnhardt Juniors last win was at the Crown Royal 400 at the Richmond International Raceway on May 6th 2006. That is a long time to go without a win and it is one of many reasons that Dale Junior left Earnhardt Incorporated.

I Love This Truck

flatbed

Can you fall in love with a truck? For years as my over the road career was winding down, I didn’t think so. They all seemed pretty much the same to me. Well not any more! I love this new Lonestar from International! The styling is fantastic and makes me want to go back out on the open road. When my wife heard me say that she got mad as all heck! ( I gave up the open road last August) The specs on this truck show that the fine folks over at International left nothing out on this one.
